Who Did 9/11: Technology of Autopilot/Remote Flight. Motive, Means, Opportunity

Now that the physical impossibility of multiple steel frame skyscrapers blowing themselves to pieces as the result of kerosene and fire-retardant office fires has been demonstrated, by many people including 3,000 Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, a feeble last line of defense continues to be raised.  Did or did not 19 hijackers board the 9/11 planes and fly them into the buildings?  And if they did not fly them into the buildings (excluding WTC 7 which was not hit,) who did?  Ignoring the fact that the question is irrelevant to the impossible physics of the official story, the answer is the same technology seen over the skies in Afghanistan and Pakistan hundreds of times every day.  Aircraft of many sizes are routinely flown by remote operators located as much as thousands of miles away. 

The technology of remote flying is very old.  The pilots for missions by drones in Afghanistan are located mainly in Creech AFB, Nevada.  This includes precision maneuvers such as take off and landing.  Little known to most airline customers, the planes they are on are frequently being landed on autopilot, in all but the most hazardous of weather conditions.  The precise flying skills which would be problematic for amateurs trained only in simulators would be relatively easy in the hands of professional remote operators with the assistance of GPS mapping and perhaps homing beacons placed in the targeted floors.

Monaghan in his paper "Plausibility Of 9/11 Aircraft Attacks Generated By GPS-Guided Aircraft Autopilot Systems" describes the high level of precision of modern autopilot systems, which is a standard feature of almost all commercial aircraft. Most commercial travelers, without knowing it, have been in a plane which was landed on auto-pilot, "no hands." In fact, pilots are required to test the autoland system on commercial aircraft at least once a month.

Monaghan, an Electrical Engineer, writes in  "Plausibility Of 9/11 Aircraft Attacks Generated By GPS-Guided Aircraft Autopilot Systems":


"The alleged flight performances of inexperienced terrorist pilots accused of proficiently operating complex flight control systems of four aircraft during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 has surprised observers. Moreover, official information presented to demonstrate terrorist pilot control of the said aircraft has been either unverifiable or demonstrated to contain noteworthy anomalies. The flight paths of the September 11, 2001 attack aircraft bear characteristics common to the capabilities provided by precision automated flight control systems and related commercial aviation technology that emerged just prior to these attacks. The clandestine use of precise augmented GPS guided auto-pilot aircraft systems in order to perform the said aircraft attacks is hypothesized.

Aviation and popular publications describe a complex 2006 RNP test flight performed by a Boeing 757 containing Flight Management Systems (FMS) and augmented GPS signal receivers scheduled to be contained by American and United airlines 757 and 767 aircraft during the late 1990s, utilizing waypoint coordinate information contained within the aircraft's Flight Management Computer (FMC), that included a descent from a 38,000 foot altitude.

Guided entirely by autopilot, an Air China Boeing 757 jet last month snaked along a narrow river valley between towering Himalayan peaks ... the airplane automatically followed the twists of the valley, descending on a precisely plotted highway in the sky toward a runway still out of sight ... Using global-positioning satellites and on-board instruments, Naverus' navigation technology pinpoints the location of a fast-moving jet to within yards ... "

But, as with many coincidences on 9/11, the story now gets even better.


Pentagon Comptroller Dov Zakheim, Inventor of Remote Hijack Technology and Responsible for $2.3 Trillion Missing from Pentagon

The following image is from the website for Flight Termination System (FTS), invented by Dov Zakheim, Comptroller of the Pentagon on Sept. 10, 2001 the day $2.3 trillion was announced missing. Zakheim's company SPC invented FTS to enable the seizing of hijacked airliners from the ground. The system had already been tested by 9/11 although Bush lied about this in a speech.






Zakheim was also a member of Project for a New American Century, advocating the invasion of Iraq since the 1990s. Zakheim's father was an active member of Irgun, the terrorist organization which bombed British targets in order to found Israel.

[Source: Associated Press] It is reported that the US company Raytheon landed a 727 six times in a military base in New Mexico without any pilots on board. This was done to test equipment making future hijackings more difficult, by allowing ground control to take over the flying of a hijacked plane." [Associated Press, 10/2/2001; Der Spiegel (Hamburg), 10/28/2001]

Motive, Means, and Opportunity in the Crime of 9/11

Instructions to jurors in a court of law require the prosecutor to satisfy three elements: motive, means, and opportunity. Means would include access to remote hijack technology, a subset of remote flying. It is of interest that Dov Zakheim, directly responsible as comptroller for the disappearance of $2.3 trillion from the Pentagon, not only had access to remote hijack technology, but invented it. Zakheim's company, SPC, also had, as a means, complete knowledge of the construction, security plan, and lay-out of the World Trade Center towers, as contractor for the official investigation of the first WTC bombing in 1993. The investigation was performed by Tridata, a full subsidiary of SPC.

As a member of Project for a New American Century (PNAC), which advocated the invasion of Iraq, even under Clinton, and expressed a need for a "new Pearl Harbor," motive is also established for Zakheim as part of a cabal which would include Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, both also members of PNAC.

The Department of Defense and its civilian bosses were responsible for the nation's air defenses and the scheduling of war games. It is well-known that war games resembling the real-life unfolding of 9/11 confused NORAD commanders, one of whom, Major Kevin Nasypany, said that morning: “The hijack’s not supposed to be for another hour.”

Who else at the DoD possessed the motive and means to participate in the crime, and had the opportunity?

Dr. Steve R. Pieczenik, former Assistant Deputy Secretary of State under presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter, fingers exactly the people who would be in a position to schedule war games, and they all happen to be members of PNAC, which openly stated its desire to invade Saddam, even under Clinton. In its key policy paper "Rebuilding America's Defenses" PNAC said:

"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event––like a new Pearl Harbor" - PNAC, Rebuilding America's Defenses
 
Dr. Pieczenik says:
"It was called a stand-down and false flag operation in order to mobilize the American public under the false pretense that we had been attacked by Al Qaeda and bin Laden which is an absolute unmitigated lie. I was even told by a general on the staff of Wolfowitz, I will go in front of a federal committee and swear on perjury who that name was so we can break this open...the great war and the great lie that was created for us to make sure we had some kind of commitment to a war that was not necessary in which so much blood and guts were shed for unnecessary reasons." -Dr. Steve R. Other PNAC members who were high DoD officials on 9/11 were Richard Perle, and Douglas Feith.

Notably for the element of motive, hard-core Neocons Feith and Perle are also authors of a key paper written for Israeli PM Netanyahu in 1996 urging the invasion of Iraq, "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for the Realm" The paper reinforces the long and clearly-stated Israeli foreign policy goal of destroying Iraq and reducing it to squabbling mini-states, so that plans for Israeli hegemony in the Middle East can proceed apace. Feith and Perle are proteges of Israeli intellectual Oded Yinon who wrote in as far back as 1982 in "A Strategy for Israel for the 1980s":
"In Iraq, a division into provinces along ethnic/religious lines as in Syria during Ottoman times is possible. So, three (or more) states will exist around the three major cities: Basra, Baghdad and Mosul, and Shi'ite areas in the south will separate from the Sunni and Kurdish north." - Oded Yinon, in "A Strategy for Israel for the 1980s"
 
Finally of course, Vice President Dick Cheney famously failed to issue a shoot-down order directed at Flight 77, described in the 9/11 Commission Report, pages 8-9, as Chairman Hamilton questioned US Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta who was with Cheney:


CHAIRMAN HAMILTON: I wanted to focus just a moment on the Presidential Emergency Operating Center. You were there for a good part of the day. I think you were there with the vice president. And when you had that order given, I think it was by the president, that authorized the shooting down of commercial aircraft that were suspected to be controlled by terrorists, were you there when that order was given?

MR. MINETA: No, I was not. I was made aware of it during the time that the airplane coming into the Pentagon. There was a young man who had come in and said to the vice president, "The plane is 50 miles out. The plane is 30 miles out." And when it got down to, "The plane is 10 miles out," the young man also said to the vice president, "Do the orders still stand?" And the vice president turned and whipped his neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?"
The simple incontrovertible fact that the standing order referred to by the officer was a stand-down order is the fact that Flight 77 did not get shot down, but was allowed to hit its target by Cheney.

Dick Cheney also was a member of Project for a New American Century (membership list.)  Cheney Chief of Staff Scooter Libby was also a member of PNAC. (PNAC associations with the Bush administration.)

Nor was the desire by the PNAC Neoconservatives to invade Iraq merely idle thinking. Even before 9/11, immediately upon being appointed to seats at the helm of the nation's defenses by George W. Bush, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Perle, Feith, NSA Director Elliot Abrams, National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley, Scooter Libby, and others became the prime architects of the Iraq War. Even before the September attacks, they had set to work planning the invasion which would kill 5,000 Americans, many of whom rushed to enlist in response to 9/11. With IEDs the new weapon of choice against American armor, many died rolling out of Humvees with their bodies on fire. Hadley and Abrams are also named by Secretary Piezcenik.

Bush Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill told Ron Susskind in "The Price of Loyalty" that the Bush administration began planning the invasion of Iraq within days of taking office. O'Neill said:


"From the very first instance, it was about Iraq. It was about what we can do to change this regime...Day one, these things were laid and sealed...It was all about finding a way to do it. That was the tone of it. The president saying 'Go find me a way to do this,'
 Documents obtained after a court fight by the citizen's watchdog Judicial Watch showed that Vice President Dick Cheney's Energy Task Force had been studying Iraqi oil reserves at least since March 2001.

In a book published in 2011 by Columbia University, Paul Pillar, who held several senior positions at the CIA and National Intelligence Council, says:


"The Iraq adventure was initiated by a small number of neoconservative intellectuals and assertive nationalists, ultimately backed by George W. Bush's gut. The numbers were small enough for Powell's longtime assistant Lawrence Wilkerson to refer plausibly to a "cabal" as being responsible for the war."

A book review by Council for the National Interest notes that Pillar:
"...singles out former Bush aides David Wurmser, Douglas Feith, Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz for their roles in fomenting the war and though he says that talking about Israeli security as a motive is the "third rail of American politics," he concludes that "sympathy for Israel and its interests" played an important role in the war plans."
Many of the Bush Iraq War advocates have retired and are profiting handsomely from their connections to the war.

Putting it Together: Scenario 404

Scenario 404 is one hypothetical scenario which brings together elements of well-known and easily available technology to explain the high levels of navigation and flying skills seen on 9/11, published here at 911Research:


"The use of AAL Flight 11 and UAL Flight 175 to attack the Twin Towers, and of AAL Flight 77 to attack the Pentagon requires the execution of two main tasks in each case:

-Rendering unconscious the flight crew and passengers, preventing any communications from them about events in the cabin.

-Taking over the flight computers, allowing the planes to be auto-piloted to their targets.

Task 1 is achieved with aerosol bombs of decapacitating gas hidden in luggage. The gas is fentanyl, the extremely potent opiate used by Russian forces to end the hostage crisis in the theater in Chechnya. The bombs detonate when the barometric trigger senses a cabin pressure corresponding to an altitude of 28,000 feet. The fentanyl gas diffuses throughout the cabin and is absorbed so rapidly by the victims that they cannot even pick up a cell phone or handset to initiate a call.

Task 2 is accomplished with an autopilot program in an upgrade package, disguised as a high-altitude stall-recovery program. The instrument-triggered program is started by the flight computer when the plane passes through 30,000 feet and proceeds to fly the aircraft into its target with down-to-the-meter accuracy.

Pairs of operatives at Logan and Dulles airports posing as passengers check the bomb-concealing luggage onto the targeted flights.

Technicians in a control center in Building 7 track the three jetliners and can communicate with the autopilot program through a data port. If necessary they can modify the programmed course of the aircraft.

On Flights 11, 175, and 77, a nearly identical sequence of events transpires. First the decapacitating gas is dispersed, knocking out everyone on board. Then, after about 5 minutes, as the plane continues to climb, the Trojan horse program is activated and it proceeds to turn the transponder off and begin maneuvering the plane toward its final target.

As Flight 77 swoops toward the Pentagon after a spectacular spiral dive, the program switches its transponder on, this time with a code identifying itself as a friendly F-16. Flying within 500 feet of the ground for the last mile of its approach, and at a speed of over 500 mph (three times as fast as jetliners normally fly so close to the ground) makes it appear to be a much smaller plane from a distance, with nearby witnesses being impressed by its size and sudden presence. Its friendly transponder allows it to avoid triggering the missile batteries on the lawn's perimeter. However, a specially-programmed surface-to air system, located less than 100 feet from the Pentagon's facade, fires a missile at the Flight 77 just as its nose begins to impact the facade. The explosion of the warhead shatters the plane's tail section, preventing the rudder from leaving an imprint on the facade. The speed of the crash prevents the explosions from greatly altering the trajectory of the plane's contents, which enter the building, mostly reduced to small pieces."


Whether Scenario 404 is accurate or not, it is clear that ranking members of the Bush administration all meet the legal requirement for the proving of motive, means, and opportunity in the commission of any crime.  The movement for 9/11 truth has painstakingly made its case in showing what could not have happened.  The ground has shifted to reasonable speculation which proposes theories of what did.

9/11: How it Was Done, the Science of Demolition

As public awareness grows about the truth about 9/11, it serves to point out that many features of the towers' destruction fit perfectly with standard patterns of demolition.  Evidence which at first seems puzzling is in fact consistent with known demolition techniques. 


WTC 7 differed from Towers One and Two in that WTC7 was a traditional "bottom-up" implosion.  The Twin Towers, on the other hand, exhibited the more unfamiliar pattern of a "banana peel" demolition, which starts at the middle or the top of a building and progresses downward.  The below demolition in China shows the pattern of streamers of arcing debris that we see coming from the Twin Towers, as the cutting of supports begins high above ground level and works its way down.

Banana peel demolitions are used for taller, narrower buildings, where there is danger of the building tipping over should the bottom be cut and the rest of the sequence not execute perfectly.

But first, just how does a demolition work?  Students of the truth about 9/11 will not be surprised to learn that it is essentially the art and science of causing to happen what cannot happen without careful engineering: all structural supports in a building must be cut at essentially the same time, so that all pieces are falling at free-fall acceleration through thin air.  It is a difficult undertaking to remove all supports nearly simultaneously in redundantly engineered modern high-rises, with extensive cross-bracing which transfers load from compromised members to sound ones.  Even then, failed demolitions are not uncommon. 

In the below images we see the principle support columns in the "core" of WTC 1, an extensively cross-braced steel assembly which served as the backbone of the towers, and held 70% of the weight.

One standard technique is the use of "cutter' and "kicker" charges, in which the first set of charges, the cutters, cut the steel beam supports at precisely timed intervals, and the kicker charge "kicks" the cut piece outward.  In all the film evidence of the Towers' destruction, straight, cleanly cut pieces of steel beam can be seen spinning outward from the Towers at explosive speeds, across an area at least three times as long as the Towers are wide.  Thirty foot, multi-ton pieces of steel beam and perimeter assembly were found nearly three football fields away from the nearest tower, and windows were blown out across the WTC.  These startling facts cannot be overstated.

Using this technique, the pattern of debris one would expect to see lying on the ground after the destruction would be cleanly-cut, straight steel pieces, rather than twisted, heat deformed pretzels of steel as implied by the official "steel got soft and buckled" story.  Exactly as predicted, an aerial photo of the debris field shows a thick carpet of arrow-straight, cleanly-cut lengths of steel beam, flung hither and yon.

Use of Thermite

In its famous attack on skeptics of the official 9/11 story, Popular Mechanics held that the melting agent thermite had never been used in a demolition before.  Ironically it had, on the Chicago Sky Ride in 1935.  It was reported in Popular Mechanics.

Thermite works by melting through steel like a hot knife through butter, illustrated in the video below.

Reaching temperatures of 5,000F, thermite can be expected to produce large pools of molten steel and iron.  This is exactly what was found, to the puzzlement of rescue workers, in the basements of the Twin Towers.

Relatively slow burning thermite would have been used to weaken strong points in the structures, such as mechanical floors, prior to demolition.  So it is of interest that in WTC 2, molten steel seen dripping at around floors 80 and 81 corresponded somewhat, but not exactly, to the mechanical floors at floors 75-77, below.

In the following video demonstrating the use of thermite, the characteristic dripping of molten steel can be seen which exactly replicates, in color and consistency, that seen coming from the towers on a larger scale.

Another interesting use of thermite can be seen the moment just before each demolition when the perimeter columns around the impact areas seem to bow outward, giving the impression of overload.  Thermite melting the core columns so that all load is transferred to the perimeter columns would give precisely this effect.

Another spectacular coincidence is the "fireproofing upgrades" which took place a year before 9/11, but only on floors of or near impact in both Towers, floors 92 - 100 in WTC1, and 77 - 78 of WTC2, which required the vacating of tenants during the work (page 42, NIST NCSTAR1-6A.)

Molten iron and steel was not observed dripping from the building until about ten minutes before destruction.  This would be when firefighters were reporting that the fires were under control and almost out. 

One thing which stands out about the presence of molten steel in the basements is that it stayed molten for so long, reported for weeks and even months afterwards.  This would require a powerful exothermic reaction, hot enough not just to melt steel, but to raise its temperature considerably above melting point in order for heat to be stored, in the same way that water brought to near boiling cools down into the solid state of ice far more slowly than water at room temperature.  With the melting point of steel at 2800F, and the thermite reaction reaching temperatures of 5,000F, the reaction would produce enough heat-energy to keep steel molten -  i.e. in liquid state -  for long periods of time.

Thus the evidence again fits what we would expect to find in a demolition that was a combination of thermite, and cutter and kicker charges.

On 9/11, cutter charges would simply have been much bigger versions of the steel beam cutter charge (linear shape charge) demonstrated in the video below:

Demolitions Expert Tom Sullivan

A demolitions expert formerly with Controlled Demolitions Inc. (CDI,) which was contracted to help with the clean-up phase at Ground Zero, said in an interview:
"Fire cannot bring down steel-framed high rises — period."
Tom Sullivan grew up with the son of Jack Loizeaux, president and founder of CDI,and a pioneer in the controlled demolitions industry.  In an interview with Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, Sullivan stated:
"that he knew from the first day that the destruction of World Trade Center Building 7 on 9/11 was a classic controlled implosion. Asked how he thought it might have been done he posited, “looking at the building it wouldn’t be a problem — once you gain access to the elevator shafts…then a team of expert loaders would have hidden access to the core columns and beams. The rest can be accomplished with just the right kind of explosives for the job. Thermite can be used as well.”

Sullivan said:
"I mean, come on, it was complete destruction. I've seen buildings fall like that for years -- that was the end game for me."
The means of igniting and controlling the demolition suggested by Sullivan, interestingly, coincides with the one proposed in an early hypothetical blasting scenario by Jim Hoffman, an artificial intelligence engineer.  In the section "Control Architecture" of the scenario Hoffman posits:

Control Architecture

Ignition of the incendiaries and detonation of the explosives is controlled through a wireless network using RF repeaters on every floor of the Towers having pyrotechnics.

Each of the Stage-2 pyrotechnics units -- the kicker charges and explosive sheets -- has an integrated wireless detonator card that includes a 2-channel RF receiver, an accelerometer, logic, dual wafer batteries, and a micro-detonator...

The detonator cards are programmed to respond only to RF signals on the network's broadcast frequencies that have specific codes. The cards are manufactured in batches of cards with identical codes, where each batch has a unique code and is destined for a specific floor of one of the Towers.

Of a detonator card's two channels, one provides the arm signal, and the other provides a detonation signal. Once the arm signal has been received, the detonator will be triggered by either of two events: rapid acceleration detected by the accelerometer, or receipt of the detonation signal.

Conclusion

Once 24/7 access to the towers' interiors and the rest of the WTC complex has been established, the planned destruction of the Twin Towers and Building 7 becomes a task for which all technology is well-developed and available.  Access is established through Marvin Bush, the youngest Bush brother, who was on the board of Securacom, the company which held the security contract for the World Trade Center complex.   According to Barry McDaniel, CEO of Securacom, the company held the contract for security “up to the day the buildings fell down.”

The nexus which seems to connect many of key players in the 9/11 plot is the neoconservative think-tank Project for a New American Century (PNAC.)  PNAC, whose members included Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Jeb Bush, Elliot Abrams, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, Zalmay Khalilzad, Scooter Libby, and Richard Armitage, had been openly advocating for an invasion of Iraq since the Clinton administration.

Dov Zakheim, another member of PNAC, had been awarded the contract for the first WTC bombing investigation in 1993.  The investigation was done by a fully-owned subsidiary of Zakheim's company SPC, Tridata.  The contract assured that not only access to the towers was secured, but also floor plans, blueprints, and all other intimate technical knowledge of the buildings.

Zakeim, who was appointed Comptroller of the Pentagon by Bush upon taking office, was also in charge of the Pentagon's finances at the time $2.3 trillion was announced missing from the Pentagon, on September 10 the day before 9/11.  Needless to say, after 9/11 "the day the world changed," the story was dropped from the media.

In another coincidence involving Zakheim, his company SPC (of which he was CEO and main shareholder) also invented remote 'anti-hijack" technology, by which an airliner's controls could be seized from the ground to foil hijackers.  This technology has obvious ramifications for misuse in the wrong hands.

In a city like New York, the world's most dynamic metropolis, the "city that never sleeps," extra work crews, maintenance crews, technicians, and delivery trucks working round-the-clock would not be noticed.  Nevertheless, some people did notice certain unusual events, such as a series of "power downs" and a generally unusual amount of activity in the months before 9/11.  In the below video a worker describes a "power down" condition days before 9/11, which would have disabled security cameras and alarms.

One favorite contention of defenders of the official story is that the aircraft impacts would have set-off or destroyed explosive charges.  But the loss of a number of charges would be of no consequence in a redundantly "wired" impact zone, since only specific encoded signals could actually arm and trigger the entire detonation sequence. 

As Air Force Col. Bob Bowman once said: "If they have nothing to hide, why are they hiding everything?"  The immediate, illegal destruction of 99.5% of the steel evidence, shipped to and melted in China, ensures that the vast majority of the steel can never be examined and tested to either confirm or disprove the presence of the above demolition techniques.  This alone, said Bowman, is evidence of guilt.

Some kinds of thermite can be applied in a "sol-gel" solution, which can be rolled on like paint, or fireproofing.  Think how inconvenient, then, to have steel beams examined and found to have layers of residual thermite paint.  It is no wonder that putting the steel onto ships bound for China, immediately, was of the utmost importance, even if it represented felony destruction of evidence. 

In the end the testimony of firefighters and other responders, like Firefighter John Schroeder below, stands as the most powerful indicator of what happened that day.  Schroeder, who says he does not believe the official story, and who was on the 24th floor of the North Tower, reports explosions rocking the building from the inside, as it seemed to "disintegrate" from the core and the stairwells.  This is precisely the part of the structure which would be most critical to weaken before a final demolition sequence.

There is no shortage of testimony corroborating Schroeder's description of explosions throughout the morning, which might correspond to the preliminary weakening of the buildings' strong points.  Not one of these reports of explosions was included in the official 9/11 Commission report.

Finally, there is the plethora of other puzzles beyond the scope of this essay, the scheduling of multiple war-games on the fateful day which sent much of the air defense force outside the nation's borders, the fantastic sudden flying skills of incompetent pilots, and of course the impossibility of the official explanation relying on a notion of mass accelerating in proportion to its increasing weight, which is a physics chimera (all mass of any weight accelerates to the ground at the same rate, and can only go slower as it meets resistance, not faster, as it was shown by Galileo.)

It is important to know that jet fuel is only kerosene, with no hotter burning temperature in open air than store-bought kerosene or barbecue lighter fluid.  With most of the fuel blown out in the impact fireballs anyway, it is patently impossible for mere kerosene and office furniture to have burned any differently from standard office fires, at temperatures of rarely more than 800F before flashover.


It is also important to understand the impact of the planes could have caused no appreciable weakening of the lower three-quarters of the structures below the impact zones.  Essentially hollow aluminum tubes except for the engines and landing gear, the planes were mostly shredded on impact with the steel latticework, as shown below.  Moreover, the towers were designed to specifically withstand even multiple impacts of jumbo jetliners.




Other anomalies and coincidences in the evidence of 9/11 continue to arise, and together with the above demolition hypothesis continue to provide clues as to just how it was done.

Why Three Skyscrapers Could Not Fall Like Jenga Blocks on 9/11: Meet Galileo

In a remarkable and unprecedented phenomenon of engineering history, we are told that on 9/11 of 2001 the Twin Towers and Building 7 went down at the same speed as a replica made of giant Jenga blocks would have gone down.  A Jenga block structure has no solid joints, no millions of diagonal cross-braces bolted or welded into place onto 47 five-foot-wide vertical support columns and cross-beams with enough steel for an aircraft carrier.  Jenga blocks have nothing but air between the pieces.  For this reason when a Jenga structure falls down, it falls to the ground in mere seconds, with the pieces falling at the speed of rocks falling from the sky, which is called free-fall acceleration.

Mathematical proof that the official narrative is impossible is described below.  But first it is helpful to understand in an intuitive way how the official explanation of the three collapses is impossible.  The official NIST report, entitled "Final Report on the Collapse of the World Trade Center Towers" states on page 146:
"Since the stories below the level of collapse initiation provided little resistance to the tremendous energy released by the falling building mass, the building section above came down essentially in free fall, as seen in videos. As the stories below sequentially failed, the falling mass increased, further increasing the demand on the floors below, which were unable to arrest the moving mass."
This in essence is the progressive collapse theory of the Twin Towers, that there was "little resistance" to the collapse of upper floors, and so the towers behaved exactly as a house of cards or a Jenga skyscraper would behave at having their delicate equilibrium upset. The problem with the theory it is absurd.  

Defenders of the official theory are fond of recalling that it was also believed that the Titanic could never sink.  But the Titanic when it sank violated no laws of physics.  The Trade Center theory violates many.  

Free fall acceleration is the speed at which any object falls through thin air to the ground. It is 10 meters per second, per second.  That means that for every second an object is falling, it is going another 10 meters per second faster.  It is accelerating.  So a baseball falling for 3 seconds attains the speed of 30 meters per second.  Three seconds later it would be going 60 meters per second, and so forth.

Building 7 exactly resembled a bottom-up implosion, as if charges were cutting the structure from the bottom up, at an accelerating rate which would allow for the free fall of the upper floors.

The Towers were of a very strong construction, having won awards for their novel and ingenious design.  Frank DeMartini, and architect and the on-site construction manager for the WTC, said in January of 2001:
“The building was designed to have a fully loaded 707 crash into it. That was the largest plane at the time. I believe that the building probably could sustain multiple impacts of jetliners because this structure is like the mosquito netting on your screen door—this intense grid—and the jet plane is just a pencil puncturing that screen netting. It really does nothing to the screen netting.”
By "screen netting" DeMartini was referring to the extensive inter-connectivity of the structural members, which efficiently transferred load to surviving beams were some of the beams to be damaged or destroyed, just as cross-bracing is intended to do.

So confident was DeMartini that the buildings would never collapse that he stayed in the South Tower and lost his life saving at least 50 people.

Even Donald Trump, a builder who would in this field know what he's talking about, called the Towers two of the strongest buildings in the world.

Below is a photo of one of the towers under construction.  Note the multiple heavy sky cranes which are easily supported by the corners of the structure.  




One problem with the official theory is that it relies on the flawed idea that as mass accumulates, it goes faster.  But objects which are heavier do not fall faster than objects that are lighter, the unspoken premise of the official story. In a vacuum, even a feather and a bowling ball would fall at the same speed. An object can only go slower than the rate of free fall acceleration, as it meets resistance. This goes back to Galileo. 

 So steel frames offering massive resistance, fires or no fires, cannot fall as fast as Jenga blocks. The reason is simple. Because they are not Jenga blocks.




Think of it another way. Look at the picture below. Which block reaches the ground first? Because on 9/11, they both reached the ground at virtually the same time.  But given the difference in the mediums they are falling through, air versus the path of greatest resistance through construction grade steel, the one on the right should reach the ground first, because there is nothing between it and the ground. On 9/11, the impossible happened and they both reached the ground at the same time.





Recall that bottom three-fourths of the towers were undamaged and intact, and we can hear firefighters reporting from inside that the fires they found were small and isolated. Seven minutes before the first collapse, battalion chief Orio Palmer can be heard saying from the 78th floor of the South Tower: 
"Ladder 15, we've got two isolated pockets of fire. We should be able to knock it down with two lines [hoses]."
Another witness in the South Tower said he saw only "flames licking the wall" and that there was "no raging inferno" on 78th floor, one of the impact floors.  

This stands to reason.  Jet fuel is only kerosene.  It burns no hotter or longer, in fact in cold temperatures it can be fairly hard to light.  And most of it blew out in the fireballs.

Even when skyscrapers have burned like raging infernos from top to bottom, for 20 hours, they still didn't come close to collapsing.  That is because the forge-like temperatures required to bring large quantities of steel to the point of catastrophic failure cannot be achieved without a mechanically forced air supply, like in a blast furnace.  This would correspond to the steel approaching red hot.

The black smoke emanating from the Twin Tower fires indicate cool, oxygen-starved fires going out.  All tower office furniture and combustibles met strict fire retardant code specifications.

Putting the block illustration above more scientifically, if the 15 story section is falling at free fall speed, all of its gravitational potential energy is converted to kinetic energy (movement).  It is not available to do the work of "crushing" the building below.  It would have to slow down in order to do any other work, i.e., "crushing" 80,000 tons of structural steel below, and that work quantity would have to be subtracted from kinetic energy, which is speed.  Kinetic energy, and acceleration, can only decrease as resistance is overcome.  It cannot increase.


Jenga blocks fall as they do because the no kinetic energy is expended to do the work of breaking connections, thus slowing the falling mass.  The amount of work-energy which must be subtracted from kinetic energy is zero. 

These are the irons laws of Newtonian physics.  


To illustrate what happens when a falling mass meets resistance, one only need think back to the old Prell Shampoo commercial of a pearl falling through shampoo.  The pearl sinks slowly through the viscous medium, many times more viscous than air.  Steel is thousands of times more resistant, even at high temperatures, yet we are to believe that a mass would have crushed it at the same speed it would fall through air.

The official theory blithely dismisses the massive resistance of a steel frame which would prevent the upper stories from achieving the free fall acceleration of 10 meters per second, per second.  If resistance were not countering potential energy, all buildings should fall around our ears this moment, or tip like Jenga blocks at the slightest touch.

They do not fall around our ears because, unlike Jenga blocks or dominoes, resistance to the force of gravity is bolted and welded in throughout the building's structural members, including extensive cross-bracing and 3-inch thick steel gusset plates, placing the potential energy of the tower in static equilibrium.  Jenga, dominoes, and playing cards have zero resistance between their structural members, which is why they fall when a delicate equilibrium is even slightly upset.


From every direction, including laterally in the event of 200 mph hurricane winds, at maximum load, the Towers were designed to keep standing, as safety factors in high-rise construction are usually 5 - 6 times maximum load in any conceivable circumstances including earthquakes.  

As for the damage from planes and fuel, jetliners are basically hollow, light aluminum tubes, no match for steel. Watch how easily this steel crane demolishes a scrapped jetliner below.

Then of course there is Building 7, never even hit by a plane but collapsing just as fast as the towers.


In physics, the idea of resistance to free fall acceleration, in following case the resistance of air, which slows the speed of a mass, is expressed in the "drag coefficient"  of the equation for terminal velocity, below.  This becomes significant only when an object is dropped from a great height like from an airplane.

Where: 


  •  represents terminal velocity,
  •  is the mass of the falling object,
  •  is the acceleration due to gravity,
  •  is the drag coefficient,
  •  is the density of the fluid through which the object is falling, and
  •  is the projected area of the object.








When a drag coefficient is very high, a falling mass reaches terminal velocity very soon, and does not accelerate anymore.  When a drag coefficient is extremely high, terminal velocity will be zero, and the falling mass will stop.  A steel frame is an example of a state of matter which would have an extremely high drag coefficient.  If this sounds like an understatement, it should, and one which renders the idea of "progressive collapse" like Jenga blocks ridiculous.

In the above equation, the drag coefficient  is in the denominator of a square root. Therefore the bigger the drag coefficient, the lower the velocity.   

Wrap your mind around the law of physics proven by Galileo, and you will see that the collapsing mass could not have gone faster as the mass got heavier. Only slower as the mass met resistance, and lots of it.  Therefore the official explanation for how the towers disappeared so quickly is false.   There is no possible collapse mechanism except pre-placed demolition charges and incendiary devices.
